Leafstage was created to counter the growing tide of superficial, AI-generated gardening advice that treats plants as static furniture or prescribes rigid watering schedules ("water precisely every Tuesday"). Plants are dynamic, living hydraulic systems influenced by light fluctuations, soil particle pore space, relative humidity, and seasonal dormancies.
2. Empirical, Evidenced Observation
Rather than promising automated computer-vision diagnosis—which frequently fails on ambiguous leaf spots—Leafstage equips growers with diagnostic frameworks. We structure observable evidence into hypotheses, highlight what evidence supports or contradicts each cause, and emphasize patient physical testing (like wooden moisture probes and pot hefting).
3. The Offline-First Privacy Pledge
Your home is a private sanctuary, and so is your plant collection. Leafstage operates 100% in your browser. Photographs of your plants, dated growth records, and notes are processed locally using the browser's IndexedDB and Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded to remote servers, no user accounts are required, and no device fingerprinting trackers are used.

Built with static pre-rendered Astro and client-side web standards, Leafstage generates zero recurring cloud database expenses, zero background worker compute, and zero carbon-heavy server operations.
